Hey, everyone. I’m moving out next week, but my landlord has been an absolute nightmare, and I’d love some advice on handling this. Here’s what’s been going on:
I’m stuck in a tiny room with barely any space to move, miles from campus with no public transport nearby. It’s ridiculously overpriced, and I only found out two weeks in that utilities weren’t included. The place is freezing because the electric heater is way too expensive to run constantly, so I’m literally seeing my breath indoors.
On top of that, when I moved in, there was no light in the bathroom, the window wouldn’t close, and it took her weeks to fix both. There’s mold on the walls, slugs in the room, and no proper kitchen (no stove or oven) for cooking. Now, there’s been no hot water for a week, so I’ve been showering at the gym or friends’ places.
The landlady doesn’t care about anything except her bank account. Since I’m leaving soon, does anyone have tips for any subtle ways to creatively deal with a landlord like this? Thanks in advance for any ideas!
