Hi, I'm (23F) asking for some advice about my roommate (27F) situation. We share a 2Bed/1Bath and has been in the unit longer than I have.
Roommate is awful with cleaning and chores (does dishes once every 3-4 days, never vacuums or sweeps, never takes out trash or recycling, etc.), despite repeated conversations on this. She cooks and leaves the kitchen as is for days. Her obnoxious, sexist boyfriend (27M) is constantly over. She is very passive-aggressive, condescending, and is extremely transactional (i.e., her boyfriend once gave me a ride to the ER (a 3-minute drive which I was very grateful for), and she brought it up over half a year later as proof for how good of a roommate she is). She insists on using separate dish racks, separate vacuum cleaners, and recently wanted me to pay electricity while I was out for the entirety of the period.
I know I sound insane, but there are so many little things that I have piled up. I've lived with her for a year now, and no matter how many conversations, compromises, and fights we have, things have not improved. Any help and advice is welcomed and appreciated.
EDIT (update): I'm thinking of getting a roommate release request signed. We are both liable for the unit's whole rent, and I need to agree with her on a date I'll continue payments until (preferably end of October). Any advice for this is also appreciated.
