BERGEN COUNTY: After collecting UI for the past 6 weeks, I get an email saying there's an error on my claim and I need to fill out a form. I filled it out, waited 2 weeks (with NO pay) I, finally, get a NJ DOL letter requesting refund of UI Benefits I received AND saying I'm NOT eligible for the benefits any longer(WTF?).
I call the office of my local senator for help and they say there's NOT much they can do and can't help sway the NJ DOL decision.
Yes, I called the Bergen Co, office and of course, no one answers OR returns my call.
Anyone had a similar situation? What should I do?
HOW CAN I GET MY UI BENEFITS AGAIN???!!!!
UPDATE: To answer some of the questions that arose here; I was laid off from my job back in May and have the documents to prove it. So, I applied for unemployment. The letter I received states I'm ineligible for unemployment benefits because: You were unavailable for work.
Not sure what that means? Well, I haven't been getting any job offers lately AND I'm studying for my insurance license so I could work in that field so I haven't been applying to any jobs. Am I missing something?
I'm about to go down there and just see if I can speak to someone there. Though I'm not sure if that will get me anywhere.
