Hello,
So a while back my unemployment was canceled and I was told I owed everything back even though I lost my job to COVID as a freelance videographer and editor. They want me to pay back 12,000 dollars and I have been fighting it for over a year. I can't possibly pay this back, this past year I was diagnosed with cancer and had to go through treatment while also fracturing my back leaving me with chronic pain that makes it hard to work. On top of that I'm a full time student.
I just wanted to know if anyone went through a court hearing (over phone) for this before? What should I expect? What should I have with me? I filled out a waiver to have my debt waived a while ago, and they issued this hearing for me. I'm really nervous about it, I get really nervous in situations like this and I'm afraid I'll mess up or say the wrong thing.
If anyone has any helpful pointers that would be amazing!
Thanks!
