Yesterday I was let go. They say it is because of "company restructuring". They offered a severance which is 6 weeks of pay in one lump sum. They were telling me I could either do this or file unemployment but not both. I live alone and can't accept a job that pays anything less than what I was making or I would lose my house so I am not sure how long this will take. I was also working from home and have a pet that needs a major surgery soon(that i am receiving assistance in paying for) so I need to be able to be here for the recovery time.
After the severance pay is exhausted, am I just SOL and not eligible for unemployment if I am unable to secure work?
If they do not specify it is because of covid and claim they are only restructuring, do I not qualify for the extra 300 weekly benefit? If I do, is this automatic if I were to apply for UI?
I have tried looking up a lot but nothing is super clear and i dont want to be screwed because of a loophole or something. I live alone and have 0 savings and was barely making it as it is. I don't want to lose my home. I don't even know where to start. Any tips, advice, or information would be amazing.
