So I have an immune deficiency disease (no, it's not AIDS or HIV - I was born this way). The standard treatment (a type of infusions) cost $3,100 a week. I finally found a charity that could help, but they of course want documentation of my need. One of those documents is a wage inquiry from the Department of Labor. But the DoL is closed due to COVID, and you cannot request this document online. So I don't know what to do.
First, I tried calling 866-487-2365, and explained everything. The guy had no idea what I was talking about, and tried to tell me I needed to call the Social Security Administration. He kept saying I needed a work history. Ugh no!! His other suggestions were to contact the DoL using this website, and to try calling 866-487-9243.
So I send the DoL a message as instructed. Then I called the number he gave me and explained everything again. The guy at the -9243 number also had no clue what a wage inquiry is. I said that sometimes it's called a wage inquiry, a W15 form, and sometimes even a work history. He still had no clue what I was talking about, and told me to call 404-232-3001.
So I called the -3001 number over and over and over, and I keep getting nothing buy a busy signal.
Is there SOME way I can get this piece of paper??!? I need ONE lousy piece of paper! This is ridiculous!!
P.S., feel free to let me know if there is a better subreddit for this question.
UPDATE: I called the number that /u/racinggirl954 gave me. In the voice mail, I explained that I need a wage inquiry to access indigent medical care. The lady *did* call me back, and of *course* I missed the call, because I was on another business call. But she left me a voice mail. She said "We are the Department of Labor. We do not offer indigent medical care here."
OMG. That's not even what I said!! So I left a voice mail again, and I am giving her 24 hours to return my call. TWENTY-FOUR. After that, I'm going to start calling her as soon as the phone lines open every morning. This is ridiculous.
