[New Jersey] I got fired from teaching job due to assault charges outside of work. Does gross misconduct still apply?

Post Body
I got into some trouble outside of work and picked up assault charges. As a teacher any charges are automatically alerted to dept. of edu. My arrest had nothing to do with my job and my performance was never in question at work. Being arrested isnβt even in the employee handbook. However, as I read the laws on gross misconduct for New Jersey the interpretations are confusing for me. Is this still considered gross conduct even though it was not at work or related to work?
