Infield fly rule with interference
Post Body

Had a strange play today happen while umpiring and I was wondering what the call should be.

1st and 2nd, 0 outs. Popfly hit around firstbase bag, I call infield fly if it's fair. Runner doesn't pay attention and first baseman runs into him while going for the ball so I call interference. Ball lands fair, but rolls foul before the bag but clearly would've been touched/caught fair had there not been interference.

I was directed toward a rule saying that if fair, the runner and batter are out. However, if foul EVEN IF CAUGHT, the runner is out and the batter returns to continue the at bat.

That just seems like a strange result to a play, especially if the ball initially lands fair then rolls foul.
