So I can’t verify if this is true. However I find this topic very interesting and I’ve been wanting to talk about this for some time. Rumor goes that the American tv channel Syfy was actually considering dubbing both Kamen raider Kuuga and Ultraman Dyna somewhere around 2001 or 2002 or so. So this is after power rangers got that big boost from in space and was still doing fairly well. The reason stated for the dub being cancelled was that Syfy insisted on replacing all the vocal (possibly even instrumentals?) with their own music tracks. And Toei and Tsuburaya didn’t accept these conditions. If this did go through. Do you think it would have been good? Would it have gone mainstream? Being that Scfy isn’t a kids channel like what Dragon Knight and Power Rangers aired on. Maybe there is a chance it could have been uncensored and faithful in its writing and dialogue. That would have been interesting to watch.
