So not many people seem to know about this. Probably because like 5 people on earth have actually finished the show and even less care about its development. But Ultraman Towards the future was actually first written in Japanese. By a lot of big names actually. Some who would go on to write for full metal alchemist and Kamen Rider such as Sho Aikawa, But after talking to a Japanese friend I have discovered that the English adaptation of this script is really bad… inserts a lot of jokes and misses a lot of the meaning of the original script. Unfortunately I am unable to given specific examples as the Japanese fan himself doesn’t have any archive of the show in Japanese, however he swears by the show being incredibly different than what he remembers, and I’m not aware of any archive of this version of the show on the internet. no new translation of this script exists online. I hope that someday the Japanese version is fully archived and that a translation can be made. Ultraman towards the future seems to have had a much better reputation in Japan than in the western fandom. And I think this script issue is definitely a piece of that puzzle. Note: a translation does exist for the manga of the show. But this skips many scenes and probably shouldn’t be used as a comparison. But to end this segment I must ask. What do you all think of the show in its current state? Especially the writing and the message of the show.
