I'm getting into backpacking. Have camped on and off again over the years (never backpacking) and so it has been a while since I had bought any new gear. Trekking pole tents weren't a thing when I last bought like 10 years ago. Now, they're all the rage.
Then, u/dandurston makes the X-Dome and there are tons of conversations about it and a lot people (myself included) are anticipating the 2p version, which who knows if there will actually be enough to go around?
So the question is, is the era of trekking pole tents coming to a close as what's old is new again with freestanding tents, especially when the X-Dome (and others I'm sure) bring a UL design to an old friend? Surely, trekking tents won't disappear but....
