Hi, does anyone who normally needs shoe inserts (Goodfeet and Sole are the two brands I use) use hiking sandals?
I don't think I can use hiking sandals because I use shoe inserts, but I just want to check if there's a work around or some brand to check out or something.
I went to REI yesterday and tried out the Keens Arroyo. Without my shoe inserts they didn't have enough support, just like any other shoe for me. I went up a size to have room for a shoe insert (unlike regular shoes, they didn't have removable inserts) on top of their integral footbed, and it sort of threw off the shoe, put me too high and that didn't feel right either.
Would love to try hiking sandals, because if they work, in conjunction with waterproof socks (sealskinz, etc), could really finesse creek crossings and wet feet, would be another approach worth trying and just to see how that footwear modality compares with what I currently use, my Altra Timp 3 trail runners and 'Altra Timp GTX boot.
Thanks.
