Experienced hiker with many Sierra trips, JMT, Alta Via 2. I have off-trail experience however, this is my first multi-day off-trail route.
Happy to shed weight but really looking for feedback on gear choices and route experiences (in particular Russell Pass and Maclure Glacier). Sentinel weekly shows little to no snow coverage over path, so no spikes planned. Weather forecast looks great, I have my togg's listed but am considering Copperfield shirt/pants to save 5 ounces but then it's stopping and jumping in my tent for any rain.
Skurka maps printed and also digitized to CalTopo as spatial .pdfs.
Planning on 6-7 days (conservative given my level of off-trail experience) with mileage right around 7-8 per day (I am comfortable at 15mpd/4k on trail).
Permits, Transportation and Food are ready to go.
Edit: Male, 50, 6'3, 198lb.
