I see tons of posts discussing tent poles on carry on luggage, but none discussing checked bags (noting that the internet is degrading before our eyes and search engines are worse every day; quite possible this has come up before).
I'm checking my pack (multiple days of food, etc, it's just over carry on size limit), but I'm a bit paranoid of my tent poles coming out in halves based on what I see every time I watch airport workers loading bags.
I know it's a hard job, but half the time it's like watching wrestling... "ohhhhh and it's jim from baggage handling with the GUILLOTINE WOOOOOOOOOAH BOY".
Anyone have any tips to help my stuff come out in one piece, other than the obvious (use a dufflebag so straps are not caught, keep it within size limits, bring a repair kit, don't check bags if you can avoid it)?
