Any advice for tenting/backpacking with a large dog?

Post Body

I just adopted a sweet, energetic yet laid back 50lb mutt and want to start taking him on solo overnights with me in the appalachians. I’ve completed one AT thruhike in a nylon big Agnes and recently upgraded to a dyneema zpacks duplex. Something tells me dyneema might hold up better against muddy paws, the occasional paw swipe, etc, but figured I’d take to Reddit to see what you all think. Those of you who take your dogs backpacking - any special tips or things to consider when tenting (or backpacking in general) with a dog?
