I just tried the SMD Swift X with its vest harness. Unlike most shoulder straps, which attach to the top and the bottom of a pack, the SMD harness also attaches to the middle of the pack. This additional point of attachment allowed me to draw the pack in close to my back. And it made for the most stable-feeling pack that I'd ever tried.
Are there other packs that use this three-point harness system? I can't see why SMD should be the only company doing it.
I searched but didn't find any other options. This post lists a lot of "running-vest-inspired UL packs," but as far as I can tell, all of these packs have only two points of attachment.
