Post Body

Just back from a trip where my Sierra Designs Meteor 3000 Light, proved to be way too fragile for the wind conditions thrown at it. I am going to sell it and grab a tarptent dipole 2 Li for fair weather use, as well as a mountain focused tent for use in the hills.

Other than terra nova and hilliberg, can you guys think of any other manufactures making fully geodesic designs, suitable for mountain use? I have ruled out the Mountain Hardware tents due to their flysheet colours - I need to blend in where I camp.

It seems like the weight will be around 4kg, so I am going to have to minimise the weight of the rest of my kit to compensate. I would love to use an ultralight shelter, but the areas I hike are seeing regular 35-45 mph winds and there is often little shelter.

What would you use in these conditions?
