Hammock guy looking for a good, reasonably priced lightweight tent.
Honestly, would like a X-MID Pro, and almost pulled the trigger on one ealier this week, but really not keen on spending 7 bills on something that won't get that much use, as I'll still primarily grab the hammock setup first in most cases...
I notice REI has quite a few tents on pretty decent sales coming up - Nemo, TNF, Marmot, REI Brand, etc. While I dont' think I'll be finding any single wall Dyneema tents at REI, are there any reasonably well peforming tents to be found there?
Taller, so prefer 90" length, also use a wide pad and would prefer a 2p over a 1p. Also in Florida and Southeast in general, so mostly mesh inner I am thinking. If I have to go double wall, I'd prefer fully freestanding, not some wierd half pole setup that also requires stakes on one end. And close to 2lbs as possible I guess. Probably a unicorn lol.
Some that jump out are the Tiger Wall line, the Hornet line (nemo line is a bit confusing tbh), but not sure about TNF, Marmot, or REI models... going to peruse the website the next few days and pick them apart...
EDIT - Actually, I find only one tent that ticks all those marks...mostly - and that is the Copper Spur HV UL2 Tent - Long. it's closer to 3lb though, but does have the length and is fully freestanding. The only way to get closer to the 2.5 lb appears to be moving away from the frestanding and into one of the "Semi-free standing" models that requires stakes on one end like the Nemo Hornets or the BA Tiger Wall series.
Sigh...maybe I just bite the bullet and go with a woven floor X-Mid Pro...
