Shakedown Request - C2C Trail
Post Body

I’m doing the Corvallis to the Sea trail WEBO at the end of the month. Plan on completing the full 60 miles in 2 long days and thought I’d finally do one of these fancy shakedown posts.

Location/Temp/description: Western Oregon, expecting highs in the mid 50s, lows in the upper 30s, decent chance of precipitation, and the second day I’ll probably be dealing with coastal fog.

Goal base weight: whatever. I’m light enough that dropping or adding a few ounces won’t make much difference.

Budget: money wise, eh whatever is reasonable. Time wise obviously nothing with a big lead time.

Non-negotiable: The tarp. I know there are lighter ones out there and shaped tarps with more coverage but I am just so comfortable with this tarp even in driving rain and I can set it up with my eyes closed. Plus when I rig my rain coat up as a beak it’s an adequate shelter.

solo or with another: solo

Additional information: I’m obviously not really looking to cut weight at this point, but I promise this isn’t just a flex post. I want feedback on where you think I’m stupid light, where you might streamline things, or where you would use an alternative piece of gear to what I’ve got.

Also, I know the Willamette Valley is bear and cougar country; you won’t talk me out of sleeping with my food.
