I've been a long proponent of OutDry rain jackets, but after a serious bout of intense bushwhacking in ventana during this hurricane-like atmospheric river, I no longer think OutDry is suitable for much more than occasional abrasion when on the trails. A shredded jacket is just no fun :(
Montbell versalite? How is the versalite in terms of durability -- like, for serious bushwhacking (crawling through dense madrone and ceanothus coverage while getting wrecked by blackberry and poison oak). I've heard it doesn't wetout as easily as other jackets -- after 8 hours of bushwhacking during continuous rain, is it still likely to keep me dry?
I assume silpoly/silnylon jackets absolutely won't hold up when crawling through brush?
What else is out there for consideration?
