Hello everyone, I’m a noobie when it comes to backpacking but I’ve spent a ton of time reading posts and watching videos on UL gear and I’m starting to make some purchases. This one is obviously about pads.
I tested the Xlite NXT at my local REI and being a smaller frame guy (5’7 140 lbs. with narrower shoulders) I found it to be pretty comfortable...I think at my size I wouldn’t foresee having too many issues with keeping myself on the pad, but I haven’t used it for more than a few minutes. They didn’t have the MAX available for testing unfortunately.
Looking for people who have experienced these pads (ideally both), just generally trying to see if it’s worth going for the MAX. I’ve heard things about the larger surface area causing issues with temperature regulation but I don’t know a ton about that. I guess this is a broader question about mummy vs. rectangular pads…I’ve also heard about wide or going for a women’s pad.
Any advice is greatly appreciated, looking to purchase one in the next day or two. Thanks!
