Hi everyone,
I wrote last week about getting a new Asus X201e pre-installed with Ubuntu 12.04. I got it Monday, and during the initial set-up, there was an error at the point where I was choosing the keyboard layout, and now I can only use the computer as a guest; I never got to create user accounts. I've tried several times to download Ubuntu again (I checked to make sure it was the right 64-bit version), and each time I try to reinstall from a USB, I'm told "/casper/vmlinuz: not found". I've burned from different mirrors, and I've checked the ISO file and the vmlinuz file is in it. No one on the forums seems helpful, and the manufacturer can't help me do a factory reset because there's no partition from which to do one. So I'm appealing to you folks. Does anyone have any suggestions or fixes? I'm planning to install Windows over it tonight if I can't fix this problem in the next few hours. I'm tired of waiting to use my computer after I've spent two whole days just trying to get it to install the OS properly. Thanks for any suggestions you might have.
UPDATE I'm writing this thank you note from my functioning Ubuntu 12.04 OS. Thanks to everyone in this thread who tried to help me out. The solution that worked was proposed by /u/batmanEXPLOSION, so please upvote him or her.
