A little background. Im a Helldesk analyst at a medium sized MSP. I currently have a hand-me-down (Reset) USG-Pro-4 ready to be set up at home. Im really green and just starting off networking and the networking guys at my work gave me a toy to play with.
They said I may need the Cloud Key software. The Cloud Key Software on unifis website just downloads a .deb file and I cannot see any .exe for cloud key software. They assured me I do not need to purchase a physical cloud key device. Am I doing something wrong? Am I lost? I downloaded the latest Unifi Network Controller software and have that installed
My unifi controller software does not recognize the USG-Pro in order for it to be adopted. Seeing as ive got my network configured to use DHCP and this device should have a DHCP built in I didnt think I would need to have to configure anything for it to be "seen" by the controller software.
I have my hotspot router(the only Internet I get where I live because its in the boonies) into the wan1 port and my computer connected into the Lan1 port. Everything on Unifi troubleshooting says it should show up in the network controller app as a device that can be adopted but alas "no devices"
If im totally lost then just lmk but I figured this could be a fun way to get my feet wet into some networking (which I believe will end up being my career path)
