Just had an offer accepted on a 2800 SQ FT home. It is brand new construction and single floor. I did one walk through and (foolishly) did not check the wiring in person, though I have gotten data from the builder.
It is "prewired" with Cat 5e ethernet....to phone jacks. Approximately 8 drops throughout the house (one per room). There is one jack labeled "modem" on the wiring diagram. Unsure if this is a phone jack or RJ45 jack. There is a significant outdoor space and a pool, which we'd want near full wifi coverage.
In the far corner of the house, near the garage, is a walk in closet from one of the bedrooms. Above that door inside the closet, apparently, there is some sort of panel where all the "phones" are run to, as well as pre-wired security system. There is no patch panel.
In the area, I should be able to get 500/500 Fiber internet
So, my "plan" for networking stack so far:
ISP Network -> Unifi USG -> Unifi 8 Port 150W switch
Wifi Network:
2x UniFi nanoHD at Opposite corners of the house. One directly at the 8 port switch location, another in my master bedroom.
1x UniFi AC In-Wall AP. This would go to into my media room against the outside wall. My hope is that this will fill in any gaps in that corner of the house and help with pool coverage.
My one concern is the USG might not be able to handle the 500/500 connection.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
