I've struggled with internet since moving to a new house. Turns out during a storm the siding guys cut the cable cords so every cable outlet is dead outside of the house. We didn't know this and we bought during the pandemic. We figured wireless would be fine. I got a nice nighthawk network adapter for my PC but we have some issues. 5G signal disappears from time to time, which kicks me off zoom and drops me from meetings. I have a wireless router/modem combo. Another problem is my router/modem is in my garage, and has to run to the other side of our 1500 sq ft house (so the opposite side). Due to trees/fencing ISP can't run a line into the house over there.
I'd like to get wireless internet throughout my house without having all of these wireless issues. I have a feeling my all in 1 router/modem combo isn't the best thing in the world which is why it drops the 5G and kicks me off, and when it drops the 5G it drops regular 2.4 as well. Then after about 30 minutes the 5G will come back online and drops everything again. On top of that my ISP is Mediacom and they just simply have drops. I'm hoping there is some type of monitoring in the app where they let you know that your network is down so I can work to get my issues resolved.
What setup do I need to navigate this for my home network?
Thank you for your time.
