Iām attending UVA this fall as an international student (US Citizen) coming from abroad. My parents own property in the US in a different state but are planning to purchase property in VA when I enroll in UVA this fall. What would be a way to achieve an in-state status, would my parents have to move to VA, or could we just pay bills for the property. Just trying to understand the different ways in which we can achieve the in-state tuition for UVA. Any people who were in the same position and achieved in-state tuition coming from out of state, your input would be much appreciated. Thanks!
EDIT: Thanks for your responses everyone. I appreciate it. My intent of this post was not to cheat the system or find any loopholes. I was just curious as to if there may be any LEGAL ways of going about this. Purchasing property and my parents moving to Virginia would be part of the process and I was just questioning on whether that would make me eligible for in state tuition. I appreciate the comment on the link to rules of the VA in state status, that was very helpful. From what I understand it would be very difficult to achieve, which is all well and good, no harm in asking :)
