looking at uva’s website it says housing assignment are made on a random basis but you can also choose to live in one of their residential colleges (brown, hereford, and irc). so when the housing applications open i’m allowed to select one or more residential colleges to be considered for them. is applying for them a 100% chance of getting in or is it only up to your application? and if you don’t get in do they just randomly assign you a dorm?
also i was thinking of applying for brown since they only have singles which i’d prefer due to me being lgbtq and like my privacy. i looked at the floor plans and it seems the rooms are connected and you’d have to go through someone else’s room to get to the bathroom? not sure if i’m reading the floor plan right since there’s no door symbol connecting between the dorms. and how hard is it to get into brown since i’m guessing it’s competitive? if you’re currently in brown could you list some pros and cons of living there?
my second option would be irc since i’d like to meet people around the world. it says there’s both double and singles but i’m assuming the singles are for upperclassmen? is it difficult for freshmen to get a single there?
i also have tons of plants like ivy, pothos, ferns, succulents and cacti. are those allowed since uva’s website only list live/artificial trees as prohibited?
thanks for reading :)
