I'm a ptf clerk and I have really tried to give this job my all, I show up every day, I'm never late. I never call in, I'm there even when I'm not feeling all that great. I work extra hours when needed. I cover in other offices when asked without complaint. Hell I've even been asked to deliver mail on days that there were no carriers available to deliver the route and did it without issue. I've learned the job as well as I can and work hard. No, I'm not some brown noser, I just like to do a good job when I do something.
That being said....
I asked for some days off well in advance for the first time in 3 years because my little sister was getting married, and request was denied. I went to my direct supervisor and asked what happened and all i got was a bad attitude response, something along the lines that if i wanted days off then McDonalds was down the street. So I walked away and waited until I ran into the PM and asked her, she rarely comes out of her office. She said that she would see what she could do. I waited a few days and herd nothing. So thinking I had some PTO I would just use the 800 number and call in for the first time EVER.
I came back 3 days later and got my ass chewed out and written up for insubordination / refusal to work. Now of course I didn't sign off on anything and I told management that I wanted a union rep. its been 3 weeks and I can't get ahold of my rep. They are on vacation...smh. Ever since then I've been treated like absolute crap. Im starting to feel like working for USPS isn't for me. I might walk today.
Anyhow thats my rant.
I never request days off, I just call out, for this reason.
It's never bit me in the ass even once.
You get up to 3 a quarter before it can even really be an issue.
Take care of yourself before worrying about a single mfer in the po
