okay I know how the title sounds but istg I have a point, please hear me out:
I 25 (AFAB) have been working at USPS as a MHA for close to ten months now. Earlier this evening, I was having a discussion with one of my coworkers who is a regular and he brought up that being a MH will completely wreck your body. Especially with the heavy lifting and pushing on the APCs, BMCs, etc.
Now with that small bit of context provided I have to ponder: what damage has been done due to the amount of heavy lifting, if any have gotten carpal tunnel or other injuries overtime due to doing the same work over and over again. And what kind of advice do you have for someone who is still fairly young? How can someone start the preventative measures to stop excessive damage and extend their quality of life without completely destroying their bodies?
Yeah I know I could always talk to my PCP about it, but I find that those who work in the field have a better grasp of what actually goes into the job than an outsider looking in.
Any and all experiences, pointers/tips and advice is welcome from all crafts. With that being said, I am more intrigued to hear from a MH as I am a MHA, however with all crafts we're kinda all on our feet constantly and using our bodies a lot so I wouldn't mind hearing from carriers, clerks, etc.
Thanks 😌
**For those who are curious, I primarily work on the dock when I go in for my shifts. So I do a lot of loading and unloading and there are days where my entire body just hurts after work. Primarily my feet and thighs and sometimes my upper arms and into my shoulders.
