Hello Marines and future Marines
I’m a 22-year-old male interested in enlisting in the USMC. I've been speaking with recruiters and am considering pursuing the 5811 MOS (Military Police) or the Detention Corrections Specialist role. If those aren't available, my next choice would be 3531 (Motor Transport).
Are there any MPs here who can provide insights into how selective this MOS is? What are the common disqualifiers? I have some old psychological issues from 3-4 years ago, but my therapist is willing to write a letter attesting to my current stability and suitability for the position.
My main motivation for joining is that I grew up in a broken home with a single mother and lacked a strong father figure to teach me emotional control and discipline. I’m frustrated with how my character has developed and am seeking a challenge that will help me grow mentally and emotionally. I’ve done extensive research online, including watching "For the Corps" and "Trell the Great" on YouTube, and I’m confident that enlisting will be something I look back on with pride. I’ve always felt a strong urge to serve and I feel like I would regret not pursuing this path later in life.
Thank you for any guidance or advice you can provide.
Semper Fi.
