Leaving to boot camp soon but Iām in a labor union in NYC

Hey everyone Iām currently in the process of joining the marines part time and heading to boot camp towards the end of march. Now my main career is a labor union in NYC and my recruiter told me a term known as double dipping. Where as the 3 months I am away at boot camp my union will have to pay me the normal weekly amount I get paid. So on top of what the marines will pay me for boot camp I will also receive my weekly paycheck from my local union. He said this is required by law. Is this true?
