Canadian visiting US to find housing for school starting next month, do I need to adjust status?

Post Body

Hi all. I am a Canadian citizen starting school in the US August 19th. The school’s I-20 allows to enter on F1 status on or after July 20th (Saturday). I came to the US on July 14th though as a visitor so that I could find housing for my school starting next month. I have the hotel etc booked until Sunday July 21st.

Am I required to leave the US on 19th from a visitor status and come back on 20th on the F1 status? Or is the overlap allowed considering I made an entry BEFORE I was allowed to enter as a student?

I know this may be confusing. Please feel free to ask questions!
