Expedite denied but received a case status email without a status update

I have an pending 131 application (130 approved). I applied for an expedite request and received a denial for the expedite yesterday.
Today I got a "we have taken an action on your case" email, but there's no change in status.
I've read other threads that mention that an update email without a case status usually results in an approval. But given my expedite request, wondering if that email is just for expedite denial.
