- trynna be at usc for the fall
you most likely won't be able to take classes in the fall or live in freshman dorms for the fall semester. what you can do though is live in an off-campus apartment (ones that are literally right across the street from campus) and take community college classes that transfer for credit. this way you can still attend campus events and maybe even find some clubs that'll let you join even during the fall. literally nobody cares if you're a spring admit or not
- studying abroad
honestly this is one of the best reasons why you should stay a spring admit. you'll get to go to either rome, paris, switzerland, or london and take care of your required writing classes GE classes with a LOT more ease. WRIT 150 is infamous for being hard at USC but the class was kinda really easy in paris at least. traveling within europe is stupidly easy so being there for your first semester is something no other fall admits can experience. also all the other spring admit friends you make there will be at usc in the spring so you won't exactly be the "new kid" when you finally come to LA
- "making friends"
probably what everyone's the most worried about. you'll realize this once you've spent a few semesters at usc, but every semester is a new start that the fact that you're a spring admit is trivial when making friends. there are so many clubs to join, frats and sororities (idk anything abt greek life though so don't quote me on that), and other extracurricular activities. hell, you might even become friends with people you meet in your classes. your social circle from freshman year will most likely change as the years go on (tho some do stay), so don't sweat it. being a semester late to usc won't change much. if you feel like you're struggling to make friends at usc in the spring, being a spring admit is probably not the reason why.
- housing
you'll get a chance to apply for usc housing before you come to LA. there'll be freshman dorms and upperclassman housing which are usually apartments. spring admits are only filling in vacant spots left behind by graduates or transfers, so know that your housing preferences probably won't go through (tho some do). for example i applied for the village and parkside but got century apartments (which actually turned out to be great)
lmk if you have any more questions!!
that varies on the location you decide to go to. i was able to take the first level math course required for my major but not coding classes for example
you apply for housing again each year, but sophomores can't apply for fresman dorms as they're reserved for incoming freshmen. you'll get to apply to different uoperclassman apartments though.
friends is very different for everyone so your mileage may vary; mine changed every now and then but some of my friends stayed friends with the friends they made their first semester while others didn't. it's completely up to you, just don't go into it with romanticized expectations of what friendship will be like.
you get to choose your roommates on the housing application!
and as for your last question i'm in engineering so i wouldn't know anything about sca, sorry haha
if you have no problem with it, that's all that matters. if anyone judges you or makes you feel bad about starting a semester late then they're not worth your time. go at your own pace and once time passes you'll realize how little everyone else's opinion mattered, if at all.
at first i did feel kinda iffy being the only one from my highschool going to usc in the spring, but once i got there it wasn't that big of a deal!!
you do you :)
