Title sums it up, I have a fleet of 49 and unless I am with the company for 25 years I will not see the day shift. There is just not enough of us to have a voice. If you look in the union book we are in the back, back when this current contract was coming to light multiple pages were for the drivers and at the end we had 1 paragraph.
Working overnight in general should have an increase rate of pay.
Cost of tools come out of our pocket, with what a $300 taxed tool allowance once a year?!
We are a trade, and have to have certifications.
Driver want AC , that just adds a whole other system into the vehicle. With that not only comes more knowledge for those who are not certified yet but also more work and we can all agree that with more work and certifications should come with more pay!
You can be hired on as a package handler and or car wash with that being said you can put in some time and potentially get on as a driver. Unless you have experience and qualifications you can not come on as a mechanic. Not saying that anyone that works for UPS deserve less because everyone deserves to be given a livable wage for the blood and sweat we give this company. Just saying us mechanics need to be more looked at and appreciated
