Social Justice Student Organization?
Hello everyone and happy holidays! For the past couple of months I have been wanting to create a student organization that would help out in the general Chapel Hill community. More specifically, I wanted this organization to help combat the unfortunate homelessness situation that is very prevalent in Chapel Hill. I know a lot of people tend to be wary of the homeless due to past problems that have occurred between students and the homeless but while yes I would want this organization to help out the homeless on an individual basis, I also want it to focus on attacking the systemic problems that exist in the United States that force people—especially minority groups—into situations where they are homeless. Of course I wouldn’t want this organization to stop at homelessness either. I want to build this organization as a way to bring attention to multiple facets of social injustice. This is something that I have been passionate about and have wanted to start for a while now. And I would love to be able to register it with the University and hope that I can find people who would want to join so that we can make this dream a reality.
