I've been in my grad job for about 6-7 months now (I'm 23) and have been using my extra money to pay back my dad for my first month living in London and then moved on to paying back my student overdraft (dumb that I even had one, I know). But now that's done, where should I put my extra money? I think I should build up a 3-4 month emergency fund (I work in a startup after all) and then build my savings. My dad always says that he regretted hugely not having invested his money early on for the long term, but my question is, should I invest or should I just have a savings account, or both?
I'm doing other things like using my crappy credit card each month at about 15% utilisation and paying off in full to improve my ability to get credit, and hopefully get something like an Amex Gold soon as I travel a fair bit.
Anything else I should be doing now, that perhaps has helped you or perhaps something you regret not doing at this stage?
Thanks people, stay safe!
