Hi chaps, I want to say thanks for your help on Friday, it was invaluable
I have a couple of calls with IFAs setup next week, but have a couple of questions.
I have been doing a bit of reading over the weekend, which I admit is dangerous, but I wanted to be semi-clued-up for next week.
For me a SIPP looks attractive, as I understand it I can invest a maximum of £40k each year?
It also looks as if this is including tax relief, so as a higher rate payer if I invest £26,500 then I get £13,500 realief making up the £40k? So that's effectively free money?
So with a lump sum of £100k I can max-out my contributions for the next 4 years and have £160k invested by the end of that term?
Is there any point investing above and beyond £40k each year, or better to roll it over to the next year to claim more relief?
I know it's a 'how long is a piece of string' question, but what kind of capital appreciation should I expect from money invested in a SIPP over a longer term (20-30 years) if it's well diversified and medium risk?
Are there any more questions that you suggest I should be asking the IFA?
Apologies for idiotaggeddon..
