If this isn't the right sub for this I apologise but I follow this sub and a lot of you are very clever when it comes to money so I hope it's ok. It's advice I need.
I recently handed in my notice for a small job I was doing on the weekends. It was only3 hours on Saturday and Sunday so 6 hours a week. In June the company I worked for lost the contract and so I stayed on at the new company and just continued on but due to bad communication I never knew what holidays I had and the company has no site or app showing this info. I met the boss once and had no contact number during this time I had to go through an on site supervisor who also wasn't sure of this kind of thing.
So working from the new tax year in April until just last week where I gave my one weeks notice period I havent taken any time off and I know their policy was if you don't use your annual leave then you lose it but that's while you're working there. I've never handed in my notice before but it's only now I'm seeing people talk about final pay and holiday pay after you leave.
The pay is 4 weekly so once a month near the start of the month. My notice was handed in writing on site and I did then get contact numbers and official emails so I took a picture of the letter on site and sent it to the boss and the company letting them know it's there and thank you for everything they did for me and was very respectful. They responded very kindly and the company said my next pay will be my final one. The way it worked out I handed my notice on on the Sunday as I'm only there on weekends and I got paid 5 days later on the Friday.
There was no holiday pay. Am I entitled to any holiday pay I accrued from April/June but never took? If so how should i approach this? I can't even imagine what the holiday pay would be for 6 hours a week but if I'm supposed to get it i want to get it. Has anyone else done a similar thing? Any advice at all would be great.
