Child trust fund - what to do? Stocks vs saving account
Post Body

Hey all, I have about 11k in my child trust fund and I have no idea what to do with it.

I'm taking out about 3k to pay off my mom's house debts (my parents are very tight on money).

I was thinking of investing half of the rest in stocks such as NASDAQ and S&P and the other half in a savings account, with the stocks being left for about 6 years. However, my mum says that is a horrible idea and to put it all in savings account which is easy access. For university, I plan to take a student loan and the other government loan.

Furthermore, do I need to put it in an ISA as I heard that international dividends are taxed and I'm not sure about savings accounts?

TLDR; What are my child trust fund options and (in your opinions) what should I do. I only have 3 days left before my birthday and time is running out.

Thanks!
