What is this subreddit's opinion on offset mortgages?
Post Body

My wife and I are looking into buying our first home. We have a pretty sizeable deposit. Our original plan was to take a 15-year mortgage and, if circumstances allow, overpay it to redye the term. However, the option to take out the a mortgage for the same time frame, and if possible stick the excess into savings which will become available at the end of the period sounds very tempting.

What is the common wisdom about these?
