Question regarding mileage expenses at work and how to best claim from HMRC if at all possible?
Post Body

I had a question regarding expenses from work. I receive a mileage allowance from work for travel which is £0.19 per mile as I receive a benefit of £5k which goes towards car expenses. However, I was speaking to someone and they told me that I can file a tax return to recover the difference between the £0.19 and the HMRC maximum mileage allowance of £0.45.

Has anyone had any experience of this and how would I best file the tax return to do this?

Just to clarify I am employed on a full time permanent position.
