Sorry, english is not my first language. I have two kids in the same school: The older boy is Year 1. The younger has been in the nursery since last year (he is born is October so ...)
Anyway, in the nursery, the teacher started this year incrementally increasing the time we pick him up starting at 12:00, 12:30, 1:00, 1:30, 2:30, and now 2:45. It was 2:30 for a long time until I once collapsed and sort of had a meltdown at school because I had to go to school at 2:30 pick him up and wait in the cold weather for 30-45 minutes until the other kid is ready and then we go home.
We are in November and I still have to go early (2:45) to pick him up. The teacher insists that he is not ready for fulltime. I find this very weird because it is just 30 minutes. On Wednesday, they called me to pick him up because he was sick. I found out he had diarrhea. The teacher asked me to keep him home for 2 days after he gets better. The teacher at some point said that we might ask the council for an extra teacher for my kid to become fulltime because "he needs a teach at all times".
I need to be clear that my kid has some speech issues (he does not speak yet except single words and we are in ongoing speech therapy - actually just assessment and they are happy with the progress). Because of the speech issue, he could be hard sometimes to deal with. If he doesn't want to leave a place, he might sit on the floor, so I imagine at school, he might do this when they move from the playground back inside or vice versa. BUT! I still think 30 minutes will not make any difference.
I am starting to feel that the teacher does not like him. What do you advice me to do? I feel I am alone at this point to be honest so I would be glad if someone tells me this is normal.
