Can I leave early of giving extra notice?
Post Body

I'm currently in the process of buying a house around 3 and a half hours from my current address. I am friendly with my employer and he knows all about the move and the fact I will be leaving but he can be a bit difficult at times. He's asked for a rough date of me leaving and I want to give him one as we are on such good terms. We don't expect to move until sometime in December but have no clear cut date yet. I have one month's notice per contract but want to give him as much time as possible. If I said a date in December, but completion came sooner than the given date. Could I leave early legally? Given that I'd already worked the contract notice? This may not be an issue at all but I'd rather know before giving a date.
