Essentially I just feel like I need a vent, or some advice or something.
I work in health and social care, not a carer and haven’t been for a decade or so, but I have done pretty well in my respective field.
I’ve worked in Management, commissioning and pretty much every other aspect of the industry, mostly in senior roles, doing some pretty intense stuff.
Unfortunately, I feel like served my time, the industry is broken and simply put I need to take a step away (obviously I don’t mention this in applications or interviews)
Life circumstances mean I am immensely flexible and I will quite literally turn my hands to anything. Living in a pretty rural area most of my life, I’ve done loads of different odd jobs on the side through my career, but none of them formal as such. This means I have a pretty broad array of skills that are ridiculously varied, but I get recruiters apprehension just taking my word for it when I can’t actually prove it.
I’ve been applying for anything and everything, whilst a decent wage is nice it’s not hugely important to me, I literally just want anything that isn’t working in health and social care.
I’ve been applying for entry level jobs, other jobs I have transferable experience for and anyone else I think would take me.
I repeatedly keep getting knocked back, I interview pretty well, I’ve had a fair amount of feedback from people that think I’m too experienced, a lot of almost bemusement why I would be apply for a role and just in general it’s been a really shoddy experience (from reading the posts here I gather this is fairly normal atm)
So I am just here, looking for advice on what else I can be doing? Or if anyone knows any organisations taking trainees or career changers, any entry level jobs that are fairly straightforward to get into, anything really!
Even better if someone fancies offering me a job!
