I’m an incoming freshman (current HS senior), I’m already committed to UGA and my current intended major is CS. I’m wondering if it’s okay that my only current CS experience is Python, HTML, CSS, with very limited knowledge in anything else. I know more experience is always helpful and recommended, but is it required? Do the first CS classes teach you things or expect you to already know most of it? Should I still stick to majoring in computer science or am I better off finding another major?
note: I’m mainly majoring in CS for the money. I’m good with technology and pretty intuitive with anything tech-related, but I can’t say I’m very passionate about it at all. If I were to do what I wanted to do and not think primarily about money, I would major in something like animal biology or media/communications (I am actually passionate about animals and their behaviors and about writing/expression).
