So, I think by now I've watched every single second of every single Fravor interview in existence and I've come away with a take, bear with me.
Firstly, let's get one thing out of the way. I have never considered Fravor to be a liar and cannot speculate why he would ever concot a story. He is the quintessential perfect witness. I believe him whole-heartedly, but....
While watching all of his interviews over the course of about a week(no, there aren't inconsistencies), it's glaringly obvious that this guy looks at the world pretty black and white. He constantly refers to his position in the Navy, the ranks above him and the ranks below him. Beyond that, he characterizes everything in this sort of light, "my friend at apple" "my friend at nasa" "my friend who works for spacex" - the list goes on and on. The way he tells it, the first time he told the story outside of his mates on the Nimitz was at a party(hmm) with a group of friends, one of which he mentions was "big on the ufo thing." That friend, whom I'll not name because I don't think that part matters, ran a website related to pilots and their experiences in day to day life. After this point, Fravor suddenly became available to interview.
Now, I'm not saying that Dave is an attention seeker, but his nature may be out of his control. To me, it's pretty clear that he's military through and through. Chain of command rules for him. So, considering nimitz dropped in 2007, why did Dave just last year decide to start doing non-stop interviews? Is it possible he's trying to move up in the world to the likes of people he's always looked up to? Would that color his narrative? There are no inconsitiencies I've found in any of his interviews aside from basic stuff. His body language shows he only gets stressed when confronted about the voracity of his statements, which is understandable and we'd all react the same way, truth or not.
The thing, for me, is whether or not we could ever get a proper recollection from someone like Fravor, who is obsessed with position in society. Someone who falls into this way of thinking can and will lie unknowingly. We do this constantly, unknowingly, and lies become truths and that's that.
With this in mind, what's your take on Fravor? Maybe go back and look at some interviews and notice what I have and then use that to form a new conclusion? I don't think Fravor is lying purposefully at this point, but perhaps at some point he did and it's colored his recollection? I really can't say with 100% certainty, but I've a decent perspective now, I feel.
I believe him. I question his recollection.
