Is Slow disclosure being pushed to milk more money?

I understand why oil companies would prefer zero to slow disclosure. That being said, wouldn’t ufo profitability in general take a hit as well? ie - Podcasts, movies & books. I’m asking b/c I hear messaging that the delay to slow release of disclosure is a better option. Is that to protect us, or their ongoing $ from the topic? Recent history has left me jaded I guess.
