Dear Deputy SECDEF Hicks,
I'm writing to you today to let you know that it is not appropriate for the Department of Defense to utilize PSYOP officers for communications aimed at the American public on any issue, including UAP.
PSYOP should never be aimed at a domestic audience. Period. It is wrong, and not the way free and open societies operate.
At the very least, it gives a horrible impression. At worst, it signals that the disinformation campaign regarding UAP that DoD has aimed at Americans and the global audience for many decades is ongoing.
It's time for the charade to end, and for our leaders in both civilian and defense roles to signal that they are ready and willing to communicate about UAP much more openly with the public moving forward.
Now that DoD's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) reports to you (as was mandated by the FY23 NDAA), you're in the position to markedly change the status quo. The public is beyond ready for such a sea change, regardless of where more transparency on the topic leads.
The UAP coverup is deeply destructive, and only hurts Americans' faith in their institutions, both military and civilian. This weakens the USA tremendously.
Susan Gough should not be the DoD's UAP spokesperson. Instead, someone who instills confidence in DoD and its handling of UAP communications should be assigned the role.
This is not a personal attack on Gough – I'm sure her experience in PSYOP could be put to use combatting the US' legitimate adversaries. But the American public should never be considered an adversary, when it comes to UAP or any other topic involving the interests of our nation.
Thank you,
Nick Gold
