Ok so basically, when I enrolled in CSE 11, I saw that it said there were 20 seats, 0 available, and a bunch of people on the waitlist. I got in on the waitlist at something like 252. I would check periodically after that, and the most the waitlist ever grew to was a little over 300. The reason I waitlisted is because I heard that there would be 300 seats, so 20 already full plus 252 put me at 272nd in line, which meant I had a shot. Then, 150 people vanished from the waitlist. The count dropped to 150-ish, and I’m sitting at around 120th in line. The class still only showed 20 seats. I assumed these people were let into the class, so I wasn’t too worried or confused. However, I just checked, and now it shows 300 seats, with none of them available, and I haven’t moved off the waitlist (I’m still at 120). If these numbers are accurate, there’s 100-150 more people trying to enroll in the class than I thought. And if I knew this information, I obviously wouldn’t have had waitlisted the class. All this to say, how the hell am I supposed to know if I’m actually getting into a class or not? At no point am I presented with the full picture, the numbers make no sense, and everything just seems random.
